Lifeguard Service

Lifeguard on duty

The lifeguard service operates between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm daily throughout the summer months at Chapel Porth, Trevaunance Cove and Porthtowan. Visitors are advised to enter the water only between these hours and at these beaches as the currents around the coast can be highly unpredictable.

Beach safety

Each day the Lifeguards select the safest bathing area for you to use. This is marked by two red and yellow flags, one at each side of the designated area. Any other part of the sea could be subject to dangerous currents or rips, so it is essential that you keep between the red and yellow flags at all times and obey any instructions issued by the lifeguards. If the sea is too dangerous to enter, the lifeguards will hoist a single red flag. Do not attempt to enter the water if you see the red flag flying.

Safe to bathe Red & Yellow (Safe to bathe between the flags)

Dangerous waters Red flag (The Sea is too dangerous to bathe)
